Medical ethics education and reflection for prison health care providers: a pilot program
In the fall of 2023, we initiated a series of 90-minute ethics education and debriefing sessions with medical providers working within the NY state prison at Coxsackie. This presentation will describe the origins of the program, our approach to engaging providers in ethics discussions, and some examples of ethical issues that arise in carceral medicine. We are especially interested in connecting with ethicists who might be interested in implementing a similar program at other facilities, and/or thinking about how such a program might be best evaluated.
